Meet the Castaways

Welcome to the Isla Seaside Prosperity. This is a semi-prosperity, in that most of the rules and goals of said challenge will be observed, with a few notable exceptions.

A) There's more than 6 starting families, there's actually 13 of them. But, at least at the beginning, they're only occupying 3 lots between them, due to the nature of this particular story/challenge, which will be explained in a moment.

B) The dice roll for determining family numbers, sim characteristics, etc. was not done.

C) One family required the use of the familyfunds cheat in order to move into their lot. This is due to them having only $25,000 in starting funds and moving onto an $18,500 5x6 beach lot, fully decorated with trees/bushes/flora bringing the cost of the lost up to around $50,000. They were given $60,000, so after the cost of the lot, they had about $10,000 to get settled. So, they actually ended up with less starting funds then would be normal for a game with all EPs/SPs.

That's pretty much it for the differences. I will be trying to keep the rest of play within the rules of the challenge, although not having the rules in front of me at the moment, some might need to be ignored for storyline purposes. Not quite sure yet.

Anyway, let's get on with the back story shall we?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Isla Seaside continues the story of the characters depicted in The Bachelor: Seaside, as well as some new faces. If you haven't read The Bachelor: Seaside blog, I highly suggest that you do that first, because this blog will provide spoilers for that one - namely who the Bachelor picked. Here is a link to the first installment of The Bachelor: Seaside. Please note that The Bachelor: Seaside feature a gay bachelor and seven male housemates for him to choose from. If that offends you, well, you probably shouldn't view that blog or this blog either.

Waits for those people who do not want spoilers to click the above link...

Still waiting...

If you're reading this far, spoilers are coming...

Okay, well, by now, I'm guessing those of you are reading this have already read the other blog or simply don't care, so, I shall continue now.

Following their departure from the Bachelor Mansion, the Bachelor, Alexander Winchester, and his new mate, Garrett Ashby, got married before leaving on their honeymoon - an all expenses paid vacation to Takemizu Village, kindly given to them by the Producer of The Bachelor: Seaside as a prize for being on the show. In an effort to save a little money, the Producer allowed Garrett, a licensed pilot, to fly him and Alexander from Seaside to Takemizu in a small plane. This turns out to have been a bad idea, however, because the plane crashed into the ocean somewhere between Seaside and Takemizu Village.

Thankfully, Alexander and Garrett Winchester did not die in the crash. They were instead washed ashore on an uninhabited and uncharted tropical island, where they must now try to survive and come up with a plan to try and facilitate their rescue - assuming that is they don't decide to stay on the island.

Unknown to Alexander and Garrett, the Producer decided to be nice and send the six housemates who were not chosen by Alexander on an all-expenses paid Gay & Lesbian singles cruise, so that they could hopefully meet their future husbands. Unfortunately, an unscrupulous bigot set out to get a job as a member of the ship's crew, so that he could teach, in his mind, all those filthy, homosexual heathens a lesson. Four days out to sea, he planted a bomb in the engine room, which exploded and caused the ship to sink. Sadly, most of the ship's passengers and crew died (not so sadly at all, so did the bomber), but some of them did survive and by a miraculous coincidence, they ended up washing ashore on two stretches of beaches on the same island that Alexander and Garrett ended up on - only on different sides of the island. Alexander and Garrett washed ashore on the eastern coast of the island, while everyone else washed ashore on the southern coast.

So, let's meet everyone, shall we?

Well, that's all of the castaways. You may have noticed that nobody had a job-related lifetime want. That's one other departure from the rules that I'm allowing myself in my game. Every sim who gets a job-related lifetime want can change it to the first non-job-related want that comes up. Why? Because they're stranded on an uninhabited island, so, they're limited to the three career tracks from The Sims Castaway Stories: Hunter, Gatherer, and Crafter. And thus, if they had a job-related lifetime want, they'd never be able to achieve them. There's still some non-job-related lifetime wants that will probably never get achieved, but, oh well.

This is set in The Sims 2 game, with all of the expansions and all of the stuff packs - I'll just be making extensive use of items, building materials, and jobs extracted from The Sims Castaway Stories.

So, that's it for now. Stay tuned for more.
